I returned to England after 40 years in Southern Africa, Zambia 5 years, Sierra Leone 2 years, Rhodesia 5 Years, malawi 1 year, South Africa 2 years, 25 in Zimbabwe. I always thought I was English I was reguarded as English by my friends and aquaintances in Africa but when I returned I discovered I was in fact a forigner a hybrid of some sort. We, Jo my wife and I, bought a village shop and Post Office the biggest mistake of my life, I had a mental picture of selling the odd stamp socialising with the villagers a plesant way of life you might think. All we did was work I got up at 4am to fill a van with bread to deliver to the surounding villages Jo started at 5.30 getting the newspapers ready for delivery by the paper boys who hat to catch the 7.30 bus for School. 12 hours a day 7 days aweek 364 days a year. And to top it all we lost money for 4 years until blessed relief Bancruptcy I could at long last have a Sunday lie In.
